Queen Comforters
What to Look for in New Queen Comforters
If you’re looking at queen comforters to give your bedroom a new makeover then we have a few tips to make your selection easier. Long gone are the days of referring to your queen bedding cover as a queen bedspread. The modern term now used is queen comforter or queen comforter set. Depending on the size of your bed, you need to either select a twin, full, queen, or king comforter. To really showcase your bedroom, you may even want to consider coordinating your queen bedding sheets, pillow case, and even a duvet cover.
Queen Down Comforter
More than anything else, the material used in manufacturing queen comforters is the single largest factor in determining quality and price. The batting, also referred to as filling, is another major factor. The best queen comforters are those that are filled with down feathers. Queen down comforters will be the softest and most comfortable of all queen comforters. Down Feathers allow the sleeper to remain comfortable by allowing moisture to pass through as opposed to trapping it and causing clamminess like other synthetic material comforters.
Thread Count
The number of threads woven in the comforter per square inch is referred to as the thread count. Specifically, if you counted the number of threads in 1 square inch of fabric, this would be the thread count. Generally, the higher the number of thread count, the better the comforter. A high thread count typically means a tighter more durable cover that will give you years of enjoyment. In other words, the higher the count, and the finer the threads are. Your basic cheap queen comforters will start at around 200 and go up to 600 or higher for your better queen comforters.
Fill Power Rating
If you decide on a down queen comforter, then you will need to know what fill power is. Fill power is the term used to refer to the “fluffiness” of down queen comforters. More specifically, it is the measure of the quality of down feathers used in the comforter. The higher the fill power rating, the better insulating qualities the comforter has. Fill power ratings for down queen comforters will start at around 200 for the lower quality ones, up to around 900 for the highest quality down queen comforters.
